Insulation
Day by Day April 25th, 2007Here is one of those things that make you go “hmm” though. Everyone knows that extension cords, ropes, string, etc will tangle themselves and snag onto almost anything when you DON’T want them to. Why is it, when all you need is for the little hooky thing, which is designed to grab onto things, to catch one of the steps of the ladder, it absolutely refuses to participate in the process?
Also, why is it that the light bulb cover, which never opens when I need to change the bulb, opens with a slight tap now? Not only am I dealing with a hook that refuses to hook, but I have a light bulb cover that somehow takes some sort of sadistic glee in opening itself at exactly the wrong moment.
Of course, Bandit the Wonder Dog is not related at all to Lassie. But in his defense, I’m not related to Timmy, and I wasn’t in a well. He did arouse from his mid-morning nap to see what the ruckus was all about, and then sauntered downstairs to see what leftovers were available in the garbage.
After what seemed about two hours (probably only 10 minutes) I finally snagged one of the steps on the ladder and and pulled on the cord for the trouble lamp to set the ladder up right.
The ladder rocked a little more than I expected and started to lean precariously towards the stairs. If it fell down there, it was not retrievable, and my fate was sealed.
Fortunately, it just teetered and tottered a few times, and settled into place almost dead center under the attic entrance.
The rest of the project was quite uneventful. I had to make a million trips up and down the stairs, and then up the ladder, with the insulation and the ladder firmly held its ground.
The house better be easier to heat in the winter months, and cooler in the summer months.
