Lucky day

Day by Day No Comments »

Despite the fact it rained most of the day, and I have a sore back from the landscaping work I was doing, it turned out to be a good day.

When I got home from work, Bandit was ready for a game of frisbee. There was no debate on the issue. After all, he had a hard day guarding my house while I was gone and needed a little recreation. It’s sort of his way of going for a beer after work to unwind. Read the rest of this entry »

Beginning renovations

Day by Day No Comments »

Nothing cheers up a rainy day like power tools, sledge hammers, crowbars, dust and a wall that needs to be knocked down.

I was supposed to be landscaping today, but the weather is not exactly co-operating with any outdoor activities. So indoor fun and games were the only option.

I’m not exactly sure what I want to do to Grannma Dot’s house, but I felt the urge to knock down a wall. Read the rest of this entry »

Sunday afternoon B-B-Q

Day by Day, Photos 1 Comment »

On Sunday afternoon, Graham, Ivy and Natasha came over for a while. It was a sunny afternoon (which turned sort of drab and cold later on) but we bar-b-qued some burgers and had a couple of beers.

Natasha, as usual, didn’t want too much to do with me. I’ve decided that’s okay. It’s one less Christmas gift to buy  Read the rest of this entry »

The robin’s nest

Day by Day, Photos No Comments »

I’m posting a couple of photos of my new boarders here. A pair of robins have built themselves a nest on top of the front porch light. I don’t mind, they don’t complain about the plumbing, the old paint, or anything else. We haven’t worked out the rent payment details yet. I don’t expect that to be a problem.

They do get up very early in the morning though, and since their nest is pretty much right outside my bedroom window, sleeping in past 4:30 AM is out of the question. Read the rest of this entry »

Waxed toilet paper

I understand that public washrooms are designed as a convenience, and not as one of the top tourist attractions you must visit when you are in the local mall, department store or service station. Generally, I avoid them, because you just never know what you might find, or worse yet what might find you. Read the rest of this entry »

First offical day of retirement

Day by Day, On Retirement 2 Comments »

Today (apparently) is my first official day of retirement.

I thought I was still an employed person until the end of May, but apparently they way payout of vacation and other stuff works, yesterday was my last day. Not that it matters – either way, I was not going to work today. Read the rest of this entry »

The New Internet Thing-a-ma-jiggy

Day by Day No Comments »

On Thursday of last week SaskTel told me that they wanted to replace my old modem with one of their new hi-speed wireless router internet access units.

When they asked me if I wanted to have someone come and install it, or save the $25.00 and do a “self-install” I figured that I know enough about computers that it should be an easy task.

They assured me that all I had to do was unplug the old one, and plug the new one in. I’m not stupid. Nothing is that easy. Read the rest of this entry »

Stacey and Phil’s Wedding Photos

Day by Day, Photos No Comments »

About five months ago Stacey asked if I would take photos for her wedding this spring. I said I would, but I wouldn’t guarantee anything.

The big day was last Saturday, and if I do say so myself, some of the pictures turned out quite well. Of course, I took close to 500 photos throughout the day, so there has to be a few good ones. Read the rest of this entry »

Sunset photos on Buffalo Pound Lake

Day by Day, Photos 3 Comments »

Despite the fact Bandit the Wonder Dog and I acted as tick bait (I mentioned yesterday I hated wood ticks) I did manage to get some good photos of the sunset setting over Buffalo Pound Lake.

The pictures were taken at the old causeway on #2 Highway. Read the rest of this entry »
