Scary stuff
Day by Day October 25th, 2008Halloween is close, and I thought I’d post a short clip from an old horror classic here. It’s from Frankenstein (1931). Everyone has seen this scene, but many don’t know where it originally came from.
It’s alive!
Some “Frankenstein” trivia…
- Doctor Frankenstein’s assistant was not named “Igor.” His name was “Fritz.” Really, what kind of an evil, gnomish lab assistant is named Fritz?
- Boris Karloff was apparently afraid of the potential of electrocution because of the electricity surrounding him in the “life generating” scene. It’s reported that the special FX guy stood in for old (young then) Boris.
- Bela Lagosi (famous as Dracula) was originally cast as the monster. The make-up was all wrong, and he quit.
And here’s one of my favourite scenes, just because I think it’s funny. Yes, I may be a sick man, because it’s not supposed to be. The scene is parodied almost exactly in “Young Frankenstein”
