another day at the beach
Day by Day April 30th, 2010Soon I was deserted by the young people. After all, who wants to hang out at a beach with an old fogie?
They were going back to the condos and maybe hang out at the pool. Not me. I’d stay here for a while, and then wander back to see if I could find my brother.
That’s when I discovered my new cell phone had quit working. It could receive phone calls and text messages, but that was it. The phone would ring but I couldn’t answer it, I couldn’t text, I couldn’t take pictures… all it would do was tell me the time or turn the power off and on . Maybe it got wet when I was in the water, but I don’t think so.
So I walked back to the Palms condos. No phone to call anyone. Thirsty and hot. And sat in front of a row of buildings hoping I would hear a familiar voice, or someone would come out I would know.
About a half hour later, I decided there was no option but to walk back home. After all, I didn’t even know if Audie and Lois were back home yet and I might be waiting for hours. As I was getting up to leave, Ashley came out out the front door of their condo and saved the day.
