Thinking Out Loud

So I’m stuck inside having fun doing some digital artwork.  So what do I draw?

Something warm and tropical one would think, but I decided on snow.  Here’s the WonderDog goofing around.

I’ve had the urge to start doing some of that artsy-fartsy stuff over the last few months.  So when the kids asked what I wanted for Christmas, I said a couple of tubes of paint, or paint brushes, or something like that.  I  just have to buy a few more colours now, and I’m  gonna start some practice stuff soon.

In the meantime, while waiting for Christmas (always a kid) I bought a new drawing tablet for my computer, because my old one was starting to skip.  Then I found a cool painting program called ArtRage that simulates real paint (well as close as you can get, with a computer anyway)

Ever have your brain just go into weird, crazy, bizzare, where did that come from mode?

It happens to me too often, but that’s a subject for another day.  Onto today’s topic…

As I was getting out of the shower this morning, shampoo burning my eyes, blindly reaching for the towel I had hung up on the floor, and wiping my eyes as hard as possible to get the soap out, and which in fact doesn’t really help, because it’s the soap INSIDE your eyes, you idiot , not the bubbles on the outside that’s making you think out loud all of those bad words, it occurred to me …  (you can see how my brain works sometimes by this sentence)

“Just exactly WHAT did I dry last with this towel?”

I seem to have lost my Taiwan DVD.  All I have are these little lo-quality files that I made for something or another a long time ago.  I found them on my old computer.  I can’t re-make it cause the original DVD files were on a hard drive that crashed.  And I don’t want to rebuild it from scratch, cause it would take me months to sort through all of the photos and video we took.  And it wouldn’t be the same…

 I don’t spend a lot of time at Facebook or YouTube or Twitter or any of the internet sites that a lot of people assume is the only place to be. So most of you have probably already seen this YouTube video.

I found it at the CBC news site tonight.  It just made me feel good.  And a little jealous.  I want this guy’s job. That’s it.  Enjoy!

I finally got around to bringing in the goldfish and koi from the pond.

When I splashed about with the little fish net I had bought (the biggest I could find at the pet store) the fish just took on a Crocodile Dundee attitude.

“Net?  That’s not a net!?”

Anyway, I couldn’t fold them enough to get them into the pitiful excuse for a net I had bought at the pet store (their biggest model) and I guess that fish aren’t really built for origami  practice. Read the rest of this entry »

I held back for a week, before I put this here.  But since I’m on the subject of new technology (see here) I can’t help replaying a telephone conversation with my brother.

It all started innocently  enough.

me:  “What’s new?”

brother: “We’re finally going to replace the flooring in our house.  Should start next week.”

me: “Great!  How long is that gonna take?”

brother: “Not too long.  They are coming in and doing it one room at a time (a good plan I thought, but didn’t say anything) and they move the furniture and everything. (moving the furniture first is even a better plan!)”

me: “Cool – and you’re getting the whole main floor done, right?”

Over the last couple of weeks I’ve got a few emails with “Sent from my Blackberry Wireless device.”

I’m not putting anyone down, but my first impression was “ooh wow – did you even know that little message was attached to your email?”  I’m guessing not, because most things nowadays just work out of the box.  There’s no need to do anything, which leads to my rambling for today.
