Late night coffee

Day by Day, Photos No Comments »

After BBQ-ing (and eating) one of the biggest steaks I have ever seen for supper, I turned on the TV so it could watch me sleep on the couch.

When I finally awoke at about 11:00, I decided I needed a cup of coffee and since the weather is finally something similar to summer, I sat outside in the back yard.  After a three hour nap, a person needs something to do, so I set up my tripod, to take some time exposures of the back yard at night.  Read the rest of this entry »

Amy and Bert’s Wedding

Wedding Day Photo 01

Amy and Bert were married on Saturday. The ceremony was in my back yard, and despite the rainy day, things could not have been better.

I’ll post a few photos for now, and some more later on. Read the rest of this entry »

Banff in the winter

Day by Day, Photos No Comments »

I’ve never been to the mountains in the winter time, so while I was in Calgary, a trip to Banff was nothing less than a necessity. It was a great day – the temperature was around 14°, hardly a cloud in the sky, and a slight breeze to remind you that it was winter in the mountains.

It goes without saying, that skiing was not on the agenda. Photography (or something like it) was the focus. Maybe there would even be a bear or two this time around. Read the rest of this entry »

Canada Day

Day by Day, Photos No Comments »

Canada Day was pretty uneventful for me. I worked on the yard, but it was so f***ing hot that it was 10 minutes of work and 20 minutes of rest. Needless to say, not much was accomplished.

I did go to the fireworks display (or as close as I could get – seems everyone in Moose Jaw wanted something to do on a hot summer evening). Here’s a couple of photos. Read the rest of this entry »

The wrong way home

Day by Day, Photos No Comments »

I’m not going to accept any responsibility for taking the wrong road home from Edmonton.

It is clearly and undeniably my brother’s fault. All I wanted was to know the quickest way out of Edmonton to get me to the Yellowhead. He gave me too many details (or not enough, I’m not sure yet) Anyway, somewhere during the discussion there was a 14 mentioned (or perhaps a 214) and a 16 (or a 216) The final result, according to my brother, was that even if I missed the turnoff, all roads led to the Yellowhead, if i turned north (or maybe it was south) Read the rest of this entry »

Amy and Bert on Trampoline Everyone likes a trampoline.

There was some sort of a game going on here. Being old, with brittle and weak bones, I wasn’t going to get involved. I think it was called “bum fights” or something like that. I believe the idea was to try to make the other person fall off the trampoline, or at least lose their balance. Read the rest of this entry »

Day Trip to Banff

Day by Day, Photos 1 Comment »

I started writing this post when I got back to Calgary, but never had time to finish it until now…

Ivy, Natasha, Bandit and I decided that a day trip to Banff was in order and set out at about 10:00 towards the mountains.

I had originally planned on doing the “tourist” thing in the town of Banff for a while (mostly for Ivy’s sake, because I thought she would like to look at some of the little shops there) but the Town of Banff decided that this was the week to literally rip up the main street from one end to the other to replace the storm sewer. It certainly didn’t resemble the scenic little village you see on the post cards and TV shows. After traveling through about six blocks of major construction, I was fed up, and just wanted to move on. Read the rest of this entry »

Sunday afternoon B-B-Q

Day by Day, Photos 1 Comment »

On Sunday afternoon, Graham, Ivy and Natasha came over for a while. It was a sunny afternoon (which turned sort of drab and cold later on) but we bar-b-qued some burgers and had a couple of beers.

Natasha, as usual, didn’t want too much to do with me. I’ve decided that’s okay. It’s one less Christmas gift to buy  Read the rest of this entry »
