It probably falls into the “you had to be there” category, but here goes anyway.

The other night, there was an annoying little moth fluttering about the living room while I was watching TV. It alternated between crawling on the television screen and circling the lamp on the coffee table. Bandit the wonder dog watched it with extreme interest. (more…)

Renovations complete

A new kitchen

A lot of snow!

They said it was gonna snow yesterday, and they were right.

I always like the first snowfall of the year. I’m not sure why. I even like the cooler temperatures, and don’t miss the sunny, warm (hot, in my opinion) summer days. (more…)

House Reno Update

I know - it’s been a long time since anything has been posted here.

The story of the summer, and now autumn, is the little house renovations.

The good news is I can see that it’s getting close to being done. The bad news, is it’s the piddly little things that are left (I think Bert would prefer they were called “finishing touches”), and it’s hard to see changes. But, the new flooring on the main floor should go in soon, and after that, there ain’t much left to do.

It’s a busy summer

I haven’t been able to update the blog for quite awhile. So. I’ll start here, and backdate a few posts (quite a few actually) to catch up. It will take a few days, and most of it is news about the house renovations happening at my little house.

So, be patient, and check back a couple of times over the next day or two for updated (or outdated) news.

And the main floor again

The main floor is going to be an open space, which is perfect for a smaller house.

Eventually, there will be an island in the “kitchen” area. The plumbing and wiring will all be hidden with a dropped ceiling. The pot lights are installed in the living room area, The biggest problem is a small “dip” in the kitchen floor where the cabinets go. It will require a few choice words to get that fixed, but I’m sure it will be repaired. (more…)

Floor sanded

It took Bert three days, but the 2nd story floor is looking good. It was a little more work than expected, because of the layers of wax that gummed up the sandpaper instantly. We eventually had to use a belt sander over the entire floor, to get rid of the wax, and then use the fancy floor sander after that. (more…)
