I wanted to re-do an old picture I did years ago of Gollum (from Lord of the Rings) on a skateboard. I think it was painted on an scrap piece of drywall, and I think I gave it to Graham, and I’m actually not sure if it was ever really finished. This is more demon-ish than gollum-ish, but I had fun anyway.
I’ve had the urge to start doing some of that artsy-fartsy stuff over the last few months. So when the kids asked what I wanted for Christmas, I said a couple of tubes of paint, or paint brushes, or something like that. I just have to buy a few more colours now, and I’m gonna start some practice stuff soon.
In the meantime, while waiting for Christmas (always a kid) I bought a new drawing tablet for my computer, because my old one was starting to skip. Then I found a cool painting program called ArtRage that simulates real paint (well as close as you can get, with a computer anyway)

There’s good things and bad things about being obsessive-compulsive. As I admitted in the previous post, I can slip into that state occasionally. I’ve always wanted to learn how to draw using the anime or manga technique. I was fascinated with the style long before it became as popular as it is in North America now. I didn’t know that it was called “anime” or “manga”, but I found the fantasy, cartoon-like images to be captivating. Read the rest of this entry »
