Tomorrow (October 24) is Mom’s birthday.
Even though she’s no longer with us, I thought for a couple of minutes, we could honour the day with a few old songs I remember her playing on the piano, guitar, or oh my god… even the accordion… as well as the record player.

I have no idea where this one came from. I don’t remember it at all – but I like it.
It was one of the 45 RPM records in the box that has been living in my basement for several years. I have two questions to test your oldie and goldie trivia knowledge. The song is from 1961, and was recorded more or less as a joke, from a segment of a British TV series

I bought a USB phonograph turntable today. I’ve been going to convert all of my old records to digital for several years now. I could do it (and have done some) by running a bunch of wires from my stereo to the computer, but it’s sort of cumbersome and awkward and ugly. Anyway, the new toy works just fine. I just plugged it into the computer, and it worked. No software to install, no drivers to load, and most important, no huge bundle of wires and adapters hooked up to the computer.
