How much does a penny cost?

Day by Day No Comments »

I hardly ever look at my bank statements. I tend to simply trust the ATM machine, and when it tells me that the requested cash is not available, and to please choose another amount or account, that’s just fine with me. Read the rest of this entry »

Vampire penis fish

Day by Day 2 Comments »

I like to watch TV channels like Discovery, Civilization, History, etc. I can usually find something that is interesting and maybe even educational.

The other night, I had the Animal Planet channel on, and in the “coming up next” promos was a show on the “fascinating and deadly vampire fish recently discovered in South America”. Now that sounds good. Vampire fish. Not vicious, flesh eating piranha or sharks, but real, honest to god, blood-sucking vampire fish… Read the rest of this entry »

The truck under the tarp revealed

Day by Day 3 Comments »

About two months ago, I mentioned my neighbour’s mysterious truck under the tarp.

Well, last weekend, the truck moved out of his back yard to the front street. At some point in time, I discovered that the truck belonged to a friend of my neighbour. The story is, that he bought the truck, but didn’t want his wife to know, because she had explicitly forbid him to buy a new truck. Read the rest of this entry »

Clean and drunk

Day by Day 1 Comment »

Just so you know, I haven’t tried this. I don’t know what to use for mix, and I’m out of ice.

Apparently, if you can get enough down you, you can get drunk from the little squirt bottles of hand sanitizer. I have a bottle of the stuff sitting on the kitchen counter. Maybe I should move it to the liquor cabinet, now that I know it’s potential. Read the rest of this entry »

Mouse therapy

Day by Day 1 Comment »

It’s been 3 days and my hunt has not been successful at all.

My new little buddy (more than likely it’s buddies) have not been enticed in the slightest by the sweet aroma of stale peanut butter on a spring loaded dinner plate.

According to reliable sources (as reliable as the internet is) I may have a shy mouse. My brother, on the other hand, suggested that I may have a rejected and depressed mouse. Either way, it appears the mouse has severe emotional problems, and in my opinion should be put out of his misery. Read the rest of this entry »

Waxed toilet paper

Day by Day No Comments »

I understand that public washrooms are designed as a convenience, and not as one of the top tourist attractions you must visit when you are in the local mall, department store or service station. Generally, I avoid them, because you just never know what you might find, or worse yet what might find you. Read the rest of this entry »

What is REALLY under the tarp?

Day by Day 3 Comments »

My next door neighbour is kind of a strange little man. He probably would say the same thing about me on his blog, but I’m pretty sure it’s a safe bet he won’t, because he is just now contemplating the move to buying a CD player for his house. He has one CD for his truck, because it didn’t come with a cassette or 8-track. His daughter made it for him.

Don’t get me wrong – he’s a good neighbour, willing to lend a hand whenever it’s needed, and never afraid to share his opinion on almost anything.

I call him the lawn mower man. In a way, he’s almost like my father. You never can have too many lawn mowers. But that’s another story for another day Read the rest of this entry »

Insulation

Day by Day 1 Comment »

I got up early today, so that I could insulate my attic. The concept was that if I got started before 8:00 AM that it wouldn’t be too hot in the attic, and I would be done by noon.

Of course, as I’ve said before, I’m easily distracted, and it was about 9:30 when I finally got to work. Read the rest of this entry »

It’s a Duck

Day by Day 1 Comment »

Been a long time since I’ve added anything new here.

The dog and I went for a walk today. That’s not unusual. I decided I would once again try to take some photos in Happy Valley, even though I had Bandit with me.

The ducks fascinate him. Today, he was determined he was going to get close to them. Bandit’s natural stocking instincts are a little rusty, but he did manage to get within a few feet of the birds before they flew away. Read the rest of this entry »

Pets and psychology and such

Day by Day No Comments »

Since the pet food recall a couple of weeks ago, I check every once and a while to make sure I haven’t been feeding my dog any of the contaminated products. So far, so good.

The subject has brought a lot of comments on the internet. Here’s one I thought of as just plain weird, because he is claiming those of us who treat our pet as more than a possession are probably psychologically unbalanced. Read the rest of this entry »
